Just a little while left in the summer! It's time to catch one last trip to the beach before my favorite season, autumn, is upon us. Therefore, I give you two Boston summer traditions to check out while you're out #OnTheTown this weekend!
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM @ BROWN BOX THEATRE PROJECT
What better for a mid[late]summer's night than a little outdoor Shakespeare? The Brown Box Theatre Project brings their third summer of free, outdoor Shakespeare to neighborhoods in Boston before an extended tour schedule throughout September in Maryland and Delaware. This adaptation will contain all the humor and fun you expect from Billy Shakes with a little something extra—a set almost entirely made of water! Get in the splash zone starting this Friday!
A Midsummer Night's Dream: By William Shakespeare; Directed by Kyler Taustin. At various locations; brownboxtheatre.org. Through September 1. #midsummersplashzone
THE T PLAYS: LAST CALL @ MILL 6 COLLABORATIVE
Another perennial late summer tradition in Boston is Mill 6's T Plays. Playwrights each board a different line of the T at one end and must complete a short play by the time he or she returns to that stop on a round trip. At the end of the day, the plays go to the actors, and with a director they have three days to put them up! Always fun, often hilarious, sometimes touching, these stories will permanently make you reconsider your morning commute!
The T Plays: At Boston Playwright's Theatre; 949 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston; mill6.org. Through August 25. @mill6
