For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past several weeks, there's a party happening on Sunday. A big party. A party celebrating the arts in Boston like no other party ever has—and likely never will. When brainstorming names for this party, many options were considered; but in the end only one was able to accurately convey the immensity of this event. Thus, The Big Party was born. Essentially, if you leave your home and go out #OnTheTown only once this weekend, it should be for this party. Let's get started then, shall we?

Sure to be the cat's pajamas, The Big Party celebrates the arts in Boston as only Opus Affair knows how. Opus Affair birthplace Eastern Standard is shut down for an entire afternoon and transported back to the jazz age of the 1920s, with free-flowing champagne, limitless flavors of giggle water, music, and dancing. Guests don their glad rags and dance the afternoon away. And don't worry, we've got you covered well into the night starting with an afterparty at The Hawthorne (you might want to stock up on bromide for the next morning).

The Big Party: At Eastern Standard Kitchen and Drinks; 528 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston; thebigparty.org. July 28 only. @opusaffair #bigparty2013

All truly great parties begin with a great pregame. A party of such epic proportions as The Big Party, however, requires more than your average pregame party. Luckily, The Boston Globe and WGBH have organized a 48-hour Big Party pregame with awesome music acts from all over, including some fabulous after hours programming.

Summer Arts Weekend: At Copley Square; summerartsweekend.com. Through July 28. @BSAW_Tweets
